On September 28, TexasHPRSA had the pleasure of hosting Rosalynn Vasquez, a public relations professor at Baylor University, whose presence and insights left an undeniable mark on everybody in attendance. Not only did Rosalynn's kindness and compassion shine through, but her wealth of experiences in both academia and the PR field provided valuable lessons and inspiration for everyone present.

The meeting was so engaging that it ran a full 30 minutes over schedule, a testament to the curiosity and eagerness of our members to learn from this remarkable guest. Rosalynn kicked off the evening by sharing her personal journey, which began with her family's emigration from Peru to Austin. Although we (as proud longhorns) may have teased her about her undergraduate degree from A&M University, we were captivated by her academic journey, from her bachelor's degree to an MBA and admirably, her doctorate degree.

What truly resonated with us was Rosalynn's determination in pursuing her dreams. Despite facing numerous challenges, she demonstrated that it's possible to achieve your goals with determination and unwavering curiosity. Her story inspired several of us to consider furthering our education as a means to reach new heights in our own careers.

Rosalynn’s professional journey is equally impressive. With a rich and diverse career that spans agency, nonprofit, and corporate organizations, she has worked with renowned brands on both local and international scales. Her vast experiences provided the basis for a lively and enlightening discussion, where we had the opportunity to delve into her insights about the PR industry and the power we carry as hispanic professionals.

Perhaps the most impactful takeaway from the evening was Rosalynn's advice to be fearless in all our endeavors. Her fearlessness was a driving force behind her many achievements, and it serves as a powerful reminder that embracing the unknown can lead to remarkable growth and success. Her words were touching and motivated us to pursue our own goals with the same courage.

Professor Vasquez is now paying it forward by guiding and inspiring the next generation of PR professionals and academics. We are eagerly looking forward to the opportunity to connect with her again, as we continue our journey to fulfill our potential in the field of public relations.

Our evening with Rosalynn was an enriching and inspiring experience that reminded us of the importance of courage, curiosity, and perseverance in achieving our goals. We are grateful to have had the chance to learn from such an exceptional individual and eagerly anticipate the future connections and insights that await us on our professional journey.
